The Shanghai Government Scholarships (SGS) is classified into A and B types.
Also, scholarship depends on the level of education and classification
Undegraduate students can receive 59200 in general (type A) or 20800 (type B)
Graduate students can receive 70200 in general (type A) or 25800 (type B)
PhD students can receive 87800 in general (type A) or 33800 (type B)
Undegraduate students can receive 62200 in general (type A) or 23800 (type B)
Graduate students can receive 74200 in general (type A) or 29800 (type B)
PhD students can receive 92800 in general (type A) or 38800 (type B)
Undegraduate students can receive 66200 in general (type A) or 27800 (type B)
Graduate students can receive 79200 in general (type A) or 34800 (type B)
PhD students can receive 99800 in general (type A) or 45800 (type B)
Age and education background
Students applying for the undergraduate programs, should obtain a high school degree or above and be no more than 25 years old; for the graduate programs, students should have a bachelor or above degree and be no more than 35 years old; for the PhD programs, students should have a master degree or above with academic research ability, and be no more than 40 years old. Students applying for the pre-college program should obtain a high school degree under the age of 23 years old, with a letter of pre-admission of undergraduate program by a Shanghai university.
Language proficiency
Generally, applicants should achieve a Chinese level of HSK4 and meet the language requirement of the university applied to join.
Students that have won the Chinese Government Scholarship or any scholarship offered by other organizations are not entitled to apply SGS.
Application
Students can log onto the Study in Shanghai website, (www.study-shanghai.org), which provides information on universities, courses, application periods and procedures. Students can apply for the scholarship on the website.
Annual Evaluation
Universities in Shanghai recruiting SGS students will make comprehensive evaluationsof the SGS students’ academic performance, attitude, attendance and conduct every year. Students evaluated as qualified are entitled to get the scholarship in the following year; those who fail the evaluation will be suspended or deprived of the scholarship for the following year.
